Achievements

1. Cutting edge research output (other than technologies at Sl. No. 2 below) contributing to better scientific understanding: Three-to-four-line description with one or two photographs (if desired)

  • Microsatellite-based technology for identifying major citrus rootstocks i.e. Rangpur lime, Rough lemon, Alemow, Trifoliate, Galgal, and Sour orange is standardized. This molecular technique holds the potential for the accurate identification of mother blocks in citrus rootstock breeding programs.
  • A micro-budding protocol has been standardized in which the micro-budded plants are ready in 12 months as against 18 months in conventionally budded plants thus saving on cost and time.
  • Advanced methods like RTPCR and lamp-based diagnostic tools developed for greening, CTV, ICRVS, CMBV and CEVD. Molecular diagnosis technique for Phytophthora nicotianae and P. palmivora causing root rot, foot rot and gummosis disease.
